Stay strong fellas! This will be a tough fight, but you sharing how we can not only fight back, but help out is very helpful. I keep wondering if larger and strong corps of volunteers can show up in National Parks and Monuments to fill the gaps? A list of quality organizations that support our public lands including Friend Of groups. I supplied a brief list to friends on FB. How to comment on BLM land sales, like the one going on in Havre and Miles City Montana, where even BLM reminds us their job is to preserve the land for us, as they are forced to sell it off. They need help! Continue to help us stand strong my friends!!
I’m encouraged by citizens showing up to representatives local town halls and expressing their disapproval. We need to keep this up and continue to tell senators and congressmen that our public lands are not to be meddled with. Unfortunately I think some suffering in our parks and forests will be necessary to bring the issue to light. One powerful thing we can all do is document the plight of these places and share it with the media. If you see something, photograph, record it, and share it with the media. This helps us keep the pressure up and show the consequences of these decisions.
I think people love their parks and are going to give their all, the outpouring has already been delightfully unexpected and quite noble, the unexpected consequences though of volunteers though is that then they are seen as acceptable default. Most parks have already been in decline, have seen cuts over at least 15-20 years and are operating on bare bones staff who get paid pitifully for their services. First priority is attending to getting all public land agencies fully funded, hopefully sooner rather than later.
As a retired engineer, whose job it was to create new technologies for human implant, but also understand how and why things can fail, the Boeing crashes hit home.
I know from digging into the details and communicating with one of the whistleblowers, the entire sequence of decisions that lead to those crashes. And it all started with greed and a sense of rushed urgency to get it done. With disastrous results.
Here, the damage won’t just be confined, it will be wide spread with human, wildlife and environmental damage implications on a scale I thought were gone for ever.
Exactly John. This kind of reckless environmental destruction was supposed to be a thing of the past. In the 60’s and 70’s Republicans and Democrats came together to safeguard our environment, our landscapes, and our irreplaceable ecosystems. This resulted in the ESA, the Clean Water and Clean Air Acts, Superfund, the EPA, NEPA, wilderness, and so much more. It wasn’t a partisan issue. It was the right thing to do. Somehow we’ve now found ourselves in a mindset that seems more at home in the works of William Shirer.
It was Mohandas Gandhi who once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
More Than Just Parks has kindly given all of us an important public action playbook enabling each of us to make our voices heard. If we don’t demand that our elected representatives put a stop to the looting, pillaging and raping of America’s public lands then our greatest national treasures will become public wastelands.
We’re in a battle for the future of our country against the most corrupt and evil government ever unleashed on the people of America. The Project 2025 Playbook would transform our nation into a garbage dump to enrich a few oligarchs. I think the real question we should be asking is: What are we prepared to do?
Well done. Your newsletter is drawing the attention it deserves. I have been sharing it in the BlueSky community where I see it being reposted. Keep up the good work!
Thank you. If you hear of protests being planned, will you let us know? I am sharing your story and the link for comments with a local news source called SourceNM.com (editor Julia Goldberg) and they would be up for covering protests. We aren’t seeing enough media coverage of protests in general…but lots of cutbacks affecting so many places in my state (NM). Proud to know my Senator Martin Heinrich is not attending the propaganda show tonight. We do have protests planned on March 7th for protecting public lands at the Roundhouse (capital) downtown Santa Fe, as we are in Legislative Session for NM. (I did just submit a comment but they don’t make it easy to do).
Witnessing a horror unfolding before our eyes, every article I read, I feel like being stabbed in the heart because of what’s happening to the environment. Breaks my heart in 1 million pieces.
You’re not alone Keith. It’s gut-wrenching to watch them dismantle protections that took generations to build, all for the sake of short-term profit. Stay in the fight — even if it feels hopeless — because giving up is exactly what they want.
We need to see law suits and injunctions asap. I think that to keep some assembly of our values everyone is going to have to quit being afraid including myself and volunteer on one or more places. Donations. Whatever it takes.
It’s definitely going to take an all hands on deck approach. Everybody who cares about these places will need to do more than ever before to try to save them. And we still may fail. But it’s too important to stay on the sideline.
Well written. The most disheartening thing is realizing so many people simply don't care until something happens personally to them. I wish I knew a way to better communicate the impact in a way that would jar people to take action rather than swiping up.
It’s true Keith. I often wonder the same thing. How can we get people to understand what’s truly at stake before it’s gone? We’ll keep pushing on our end
This is unfortunately what is going to be happening for the foreseeable future. Underneath all the bombastic and outrageous shenanigans that will get press coverage there will be a dismantling of everything that has been keeping a free for all business atmosphere at bay.
But hey, at least we got to choose our own pronouns for a few years. Yes, I’m salty and in the camp that is holding Identity Politics along with Biden himself (for not stepping aside in 2022) to blame for all that is happening and going to happen. I can’t blame the delusional lunatics of the right, they are mentally ill.
Yep. While the headlines are full of chaos and theatrics, the real agenda is happening in the background—dismantling every protection that stands between corporate greed and total exploitation.
This isn’t incompetence, and it’s not just reactionary politics. It’s a deliberate, long-term effort to turn government into a rubber stamp for industry, gut regulations, and strip away anything that slows down profit-making—no matter the cost.
Thanks Eileen. I get it. The feeling of being powerless as rapacious billionaires strip our lands of their beauty and turn what’s left into profit margins is deeply saddening. But we’ll carry on the fight to the bitter end because it’s the right thing to do.
It's so exhausting. Every post, every call to action, every letter written is a victory. Thank you for assembling this, I will share it with my activist friends.
We’ve all been so busy worrying about the other atrocities that we’ve almost forgotten about the impact of Trumpapocalypse on the environment. Something else to worry about, and fight for.
Exactly. It’s all connected — the same assault on democracy, truth, and basic decency is fueling this unprecedented environmental destruction too. They’re counting on us being too overwhelmed to fight on all fronts. But that’s exactly why we have to keep showing up, keep speaking out, and refuse to let them gut our future while we’re distracted. We’ll be staying on top of all of the latest here.
For anyone else who struggles with writing, here's a little template:
I am writing to strongly oppose the proposed repeal of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) implementing regulations, as detailed in the Federal Register notice published on February 25, 2025 (Docket No. 2025-03014). NEPA is a crucial safeguard for environmental protection in the United States, requiring federal agencies to thoroughly assess the environmental consequences of their actions and involve the public in decision-making.
Dismantling these regulations would reverse decades of progress in protecting not only our environment but also public health. NEPA ensures that government projects consider air and water quality, hazardous waste disposal, and pollution impacts—issues that directly affect human well-being. Weakening these protections could result in increased exposure to harmful pollutants, leading to higher rates of respiratory diseases, cancers, neurological disorders, and other serious health conditions. Vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly, and low-income communities, would bear the brunt of these health consequences, as they are often the most exposed to environmental hazards.
Furthermore, this proposal disregards the urgent need to address climate change, which is already contributing to worsening air quality, heat-related illnesses, and the spread of infectious diseases. NEPA plays a vital role in ensuring that federal projects do not exacerbate these crises. Stripping away these regulations would make it easier for corporations and government agencies to push forward projects without fully considering the long-term health risks to the public.
I strongly urge the administration to reject this dangerous proposal and instead work to strengthen NEPA’s implementing regulations. The cost of rolling back these protections is not just environmental degradation—it is increased disease, suffering, and premature deaths. Public health and environmental justice must remain at the forefront of federal decision-making, not sacrificed for short-term economic gain or deregulation. The health of our communities, our ecosystems, and future generations depends on preserving and reinforcing NEPA’s safeguards.

This is just like the FAA allowing “self certification” by the airline industry.
How can one forget what dastardly acts Boeing did to ultimately result in two 737 Max planes crashing, killing hundreds of passengers?
Well said John. The Boeing comparison is apt. This is the unregulated hellscape that project 2025 called for.
As a retired engineer, whose job it was to create new technologies for human implant, but also understand how and why things can fail, the Boeing crashes hit home.

Well put, Jim. Especially the reference to Shirer.
Thanks Michael. I’m aghast at how we got here. As Jefferson so wisely put it, “the price of liberty is eternal vigilance”
It was Mohandas Gandhi who once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Utah has five national parks, which are known as Utah's Mighty 5. These parks are among the most visited in the United States.
This “scorched earth policy making” could be the death knell for this state’s animals, forests, artifacts, employment, and “ tourism”. It’s sickening.
We need to see law suits and injunctions asap. I think that to keep some assembly of our values everyone is going to have to quit being afraid including myself and volunteer on one or more places. Donations. Whatever it takes.

Echoing the comments of so many. Your informative posts and action steps are so helpful. Thank you. Comment posted!
Thanks Kristi! We’re trying to do our part. It’s hard to read about this kind of news every day, but we’ve got to stay informed and stay in the fight
Totally agree! We are stronger for knowing and it feels empowering to be part of a community of others who care. Thank you.

Putting a link to the public comment period would help us out a lot so that we don't all go into an existential panic. Thanks.

Great template Lindsay. I meant to add one, but it got lost in the shuffle. Thanks for including this!
Are you able to edit it and paste something similar at the bottom of the article? I know some people actively avoid the comment section.
Done!
Thank you so much! Sorry for the pressure. I'm a naturally anxious person when it comes to environmental causes. I'm trying to work on it.
A great point! I’m working on that now, albeit from a plane so bear with me.
Awesome!!!!
This is a disgrace
Yes it is.
