The Exact Camera Kit We Use to Film America’s Public Lands (2025 Edition)
Every camera, drone, and piece of field-tested gear we use to film America’s public lands - plus links, notes, and real-world advice.
Let me start off by saying last year we did a post on this and got some colorful remarks from folks on the question of affordability. I’ll start by saying for entry level folks there are plenty of items on this list that are likely not the best choice. We do this professionally and so our gear for the most part has to be fairly high-end to accomplish the job.
Our photos and films have been featured in most of the major outdoor publications – National Geographic, Travel & Leisure, Condé Nast, Outside, & etc. We work with and for major tourism boards like Visit California, Visit Utah, Visit Montana, Travel South Dakota, Visit North Dakota, Visit West Virginia, and more.
When you walk into a Best Buy or a Target or a Walmart and look at the TVs you’ll often see our work being displayed there because the TV makers license it to show off how beautiful their displays are.
Last year we released our camera kit for the first time and this year we’re releasing an updated edition with our latest gear. Some is unchanged while other pieces have been added.
If you think I missed something or have any specific questions about any of the equipment please drop me a comment and I’ll respond to you personally.
