Another day, another foreign mining company being pushed forward by the Trump administration to despoil America’s public lands.
This time it’s a Canadian mining company that wants to sink two uranium mine shafts deep into New Mexico, pump millions of gallons of groundwater out of the earth every day, vent radioactive radon from the mine, and haul the ore roughly 290 miles across the Southwest to a processing mill in Utah.
And part of the machinery needed to make it happen would sit on your national forest.
The project is called Roca Honda. On Monday, the Forest Service formally restarted the federal environmental review and opened a thirty-day public comment period.
That means this thing’s moving and it also means there’s still time to fight it.
