A Sham Oil Emergency is Now Being Used to Plunder Public Lands

If your self-preservation instincts aren’t working right you might remember on “Day One”, the Trump administration – newly reinstalled and moving like a liquidation crew for public lands – declared a national energy emergency. The goal? Make it easier to drill, lease, and extract fossil fuels from federal lands and waters. Fast.
Interior officials called it “long overdue.” Doug Burgum, now the administration’s energy point man, said it would “unleash American production.” The White House warned of “economic peril” unless drilling was expanded immediately.
